Social Impact: Fair Trade Tea

Longevité is committed to the principles of fair trade—sound environmental practices and responsible production methods. We strive to work with tea producers to ensure that they can achieve security and economic self-sufficiency. We believe that as long as developing countries trade to developed countries, producers and workers must become stakeholders in the global markets for tea.

Longevité offers high-quality artisan teas with an anchor in individual cultures and traditions. Our Fair Trade tea offerings ensure payment of a fair price, safe and healthy working conditions, direct trade, community development and environmental sustainability, fulfilling our belief that everyone must benefit in the global business arena. Additionally, we support and encourage organic tea gardens to follow fair trade practices.

The imposition of traditional global trade policies threatens the very existence of local products. However, the integration of a fair playing field between local production and global markets preserves, protects, and expands the demand for these unique products from around the world.

"Fair Trade Certified® tea directly supports a better life for workers on estates and plantations committed to social responsibility, community development and environmental stewardship. Workers benefit through fair wages, freedom of association, and a sage and healthy working environment. These workers are also direct benficiaries of Fair Trade premiums, which they use to invest in building their communities and improving their lives. The Fair Trade Certified label is backed by TransFair USA, the only third-party certifier of Fair Trade products for the U.S. market."

The Fair Trade Certified® label is a simple way for consumers to know that their products were produced under socially, economically and environmentally sustainable conditions."
